CPS Technician Proxy

What is a CPS Technician Proxy?

A Technician Proxy is a certified Child Passenger Safety (CPS) Technician who takes on a leadership role by reviewing and approving seat checks required for fellow technicians to recertify.

In a county like Los Angeles — with its vast areas — Technician Proxies are essential. They help ensure that CPS Technicians in remote communities can stay certified and continue serving families, even when a CPS Instructor isn’t nearby.

Why Become a Technician Proxy?

  • You’ll support your peers in maintaining their certification
  • You’ll help expand car seat safety access in underserved areas
  • You’ll strengthen your own skills and leadership in the CPS field

Minimum Requirements:

  • Be a certified CPS Technician for at least 6 months
  • Actively participate in events like Permanent Checking Stations
  • Ready to Step into a Leadership Role?
  • The Technician Proxy program is managed by Safe Kids Certification, just like the CPS Technician Certification

  • Your experience matters. Your leadership makes a difference. Help build safer communities — one seat check at a time.
