About the Program

Our Vision

Foster an environment where all individuals have the ability to live and thrive in a safe community.

Our Mission

To educate and enhance preventative measures to improve health outcomes in LA County communities through effective collaboration, fostering a healthier and safer environment for all.

Who We Are

Our team includes certified Child Passenger Safety Technicians (CPSTs) & Instructors who offer expertise in car seat selection, installation, and safe usage, helping caregivers navigate California law and best practices.

What We Offer

Free Car Seat Check Events

  • We host Car Seat Checkup Events at locations throughout LA County—including L.A. General Medical Center, The Whole Child, Wilmington Wellness Center, Pomona Wellness Community, Lancaster, Pasadena, and more. Certified technicians will inspect your car seat for proper fit, manufacturer recalls, expiration dates, and teach proper installation.

Education & Outreach

  • Through community workshops and informational materials, we educate families about California’s legal requirements—such as rear-facing until age 2 and booster-seat usage until at least age 8 or until they pass the five-step test—and proper harnessing techniques to ensure maximum protection.
  • Free Child Passenger Safety workshops are offered for all Los Angeles County residents. Workshops are offered in English and Spanish and require pre-registration. Families that show proof of financial need may qualify for a free car seat (one per family) after completing the workshop. Contact your local agency for qualification requirements and workshop availability.

Why It Matters

Traffic collisions remain the leading cause of death and serious injury in children under 13. "National Highway Traffic Safety Administration estimates that correctly used child restraints reduce fatalities by 71% for infants younger than 1 year old and by 54% for children 1 to 4 years old in passenger cars." Yet studies show that more than half of installed car seats have critical errors. (National Highway Traffic Safety Administration) Our program bridges that gap between compliance and safety.
