Hospital Violence Intervention Program (HVIP) Overview
|
Culturally competent case managers provide 24/7 response to victims of violence at four trauma hospitals during a teachable moment in the hospital setting. In the months following a patient’s release, they engage, assess, and link individuals to services such as education, counseling, employment, and victim services. TPI contracts with Southern California Crossroads and Soledad Enrichment Action to implement Hospital Violence Intervention Programs (HVIP) and co-convenes the HVI Consortium to improve collaboration and build a cohesive model to better serve communities.

Southern California Crossroads: St. Francis Medical Center, Harbor UCLA Medical Center, and Pomona Valley Hospital
Southern California Crossroads is a leader in the field of Hospital Based Violence Intervention(HBVI). SCC focuses on a specific approach involving direct intervention into the lives of trauma patients by providing them with rehabilitative services that empowers them to reintegrate back into a safe community. Crossroads currently works with St Francis Medical Center, Harbor UCLA MC, Rancho Los Amigos and Pomona Valley Hospital.

Street Outreach & Community Violence Intervention Services
|
Community intervention workers and ambassadors in the nine TPI communities mediate conflicts, control rumors, stop retaliatory violence, ensure safe passages to and from schools and parks, promote peace in the community, and link youth and adults to social services, health services, and mental-health services.

BUILD Program - Hawaiian Gardens and Norwalk
“The Brotherhood Unified for Independent Leadership Through Discipline (BUILD) Program provides targeted violence prevention/gang intervention, high-risk Incident response, comprehensive public safety training locally and nationally, community mobilization, cooperative activism, social and justice advocacy to numerous cities across the United States and across the globe. BUILD is also the subject-matter expert for the White House's 17-cities Community Violence Intervention Initiative.
Founded by Dr. Aquil Basheer in 1992, BUILD is an award-winning 501(c3) nonprofit organization that provides holistic, integrated human services to those most affected by violence. Through a proven methodology, BUILD assesses and addresses community violence through a cost-effective, culturally competent, practitioner-based approach that includes hands-on engagement and comprehensive public safety training. The BUILD Program is driven by the core principles to Save Lives, Restore Communities, Provide Hope and Implement Solutions through Self-Reliance and Self-Determination.”

HELPER Foundation - Antelope Valley
Founded in 1999, H.E.L.P.E.R. Foundation (Formerly known as "Venice 2000") is a non-profit 501 (c)3 organization that was originally established to provide gang intervention and prevention services. Since that time, we have come to believe that "community intervention" services are needed now more than ever to combat gang-related violence, the destruction of our communities, and the loss of our young people to the lure of economic depravity.

Inner City Visions (ICV) - Florence Firestone
Inner City Visions (ICV) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization founded in 2007 in the epicenter of South Los Angeles. ICV engage what is statistically the most vulnerable population of at-risk and exploited youth and provide solutions to their ever-evolving hardships. Combating human trafficking in Florence-Firestone involves taking high-level risks and addressing the deeply ingrained dysfunctions of a generation ally disadvantaged and gang-influenced community. ICV is the only NGO in the area that is built on a history of long-standing community relationships and has an in-depth understanding of how youth become vulnerable to exploitation and recruitment into the commercial sex trade.

Just Us 4 Youth - Pomona
Just Us 4 Youth (JU4Y) is a non-profit organization established in 2017 to mentor and serve at-promised youth and their communities. JU4Y is committed to providing a holistic and restorative approach to improve various social, emotional, educational, and mental challenges often experienced in underserved areas. In addition, JU4Y is committed to improving the community's overall needs through extensive outreach. OVP has contracted with Just Us 4 Youth to provide Street Outreach and Community Violence Intervention Services in Pomona.
