All activities are FREE and open to the community.

Hands Only CPR Training
In Person! Los Angeles County Department of Public Health is offering free trainings on Hands-Only CPR for community members. Hands-Only CPR is a life-saving skill that increases the survival rate of a person in a cardiac arrest emergency.

The training is given by Los Angeles County Department of Public Health staff at your facility and can be given in English and Spanish.

To host a training, please complete the SPA 7 Community Request Form.

Empowerment Through Mental Health Awareness


Join us as we celebrate May is Mental Health Awareness Month as part of our Take Action for Mental Health Los Angeles County campaign. Rio Hondo Mental Health Center, in collaboration with L.A. County Public Health Whittier Wellness Center, welcome everyone to join us and learn more about mental health. The event will include presentations and activities focused on promoting mental health education and awareness. Take action by learning more about mental health to help yourself and your loves ones in times of need. There will be free food, beverages, resources, giveaways, and fresh produce bags.

CORE  Prevention First, Treatment Works, and Recovery is Possible!

Connecting to Opportunities for Recovery and Engagement (CORE) Center offers a welcoming environment where visitors can ask questions about Substance Use Disorders (also known as addictions) and get connected to prevention and treatment services, including risk reduction, prevention, and treatment.

Substance Abuse Counselors are available on-site to provide screening, referrals for prevention and treatment resources, and informative presentations.

Screening 
CORE Center Staff provide peer-to-peer support for families of loved ones using alcohol and drugs.

Substance Abuse Counselors (SACs) can provide screenings and referrals to treatment, including no-cost treatment services for Medi-Cal and My Health LA clients as well as referrals to other resources in the community.

The Whittier Wellness Community is hosted by the Department of Public Health. Service Planning Area 7, or SPA 7, and serves the communities Artesia, Bell, Bellflower, Bell Gardens, Cerritos, City of Commerce, City Terrace, Cudahy, Downey, East Los Angeles, Hawaiian Gardens, Huntington Park, La Habra Heights, Lakewood, La Mirada, Los Nietos, Maywood, Montebello, Norwalk, Pico Rivera, Santa Fe Springs, Signal Hill, South Gate, Vernon, Walnut Park, Whittier, and others.
