Within the Department of Public Health (DPH) and the Division of Chronic Disease and Injury
Prevention, Cardiovascular and School Health (CVSH) promotes physical activity across the
lifespan for all who live and work in Los Angeles through policy, system, and environmental change
initiatives. CVSH promotes the benefits of physical activity by bringing together professionals
from various sectors, residents, and community leaders to increase awareness of and access to
spaces for physical activity, including supporting the adoption of shared-use policies. Our goal is
that residents would engage in physical activity in line with CDC recommendations with equitable
access to community resources for healthy living.
CVSH provides backbone support for the Join Us in People to Play (JUMPP) Coalition, a multi-sectoral
gathering to develop and implement a wide range of strategies to increase physical activity throughout
the County. We unite the strengths of public, private, nonprofit, and citizen efforts in increasing
and promoting physical activity and other healthy lifestyles.
