Living with Dementia

Receiving an Alzheimer’s disease or related dementia diagnosis is a life-changing event.1 It can take time to process and adjust to this new reality. As your disease progresses, new challenges will come up. However, staying informed, getting support, and maintaining a sense of self can help in living with the condition.

Here are 5 tips to help with daily tasks:

  1. Organize a to-do list – Keep a list of appointments and events by using a notebook or post-it notes.
  2. Establish a regular sleep schedule – Try and go to sleep and wake up at the same time each day.
  3. Maintain an active lifestyle – Continuing doing activities you enjoy like exercising or spending time with friends and family.
  4. Keep yourself safe – Always carry identification with you and make necessary changes in your home to prevent falls.
  5. Plan for the future – Making decisions about future care and finances can be hard, but they are necessary to help you and your loved ones feel more prepared.
