About Community Protection

Community Protection is the branch of Environmental Health that is concerned with all aspects of the natural and built environment that may affect human health. The Community Protection Branch addresses injury and disease transmission between people and their environment by assessing, monitoring, and controlling factors that can potentially affect health. The programs collectively protect the health of community members across Los Angeles County.
