The best way to handle any emergency is to prepare ahead of time. Emergencies like wildfires and earthquakes can happen at any time. It’s important that individuals, families, workforces, and communities are prepared. It’s also important for Public Health and other public agencies to be ready to respond when disaster strikes.
For Residents
For resident information on how you can prepare for earthquakes and other emergencies, visit Public Health's Emergency Preparedness Response Division page.
For mental health resources related to disasters, visit the Disaster Services program of LA County Department of Mental Health. Check out their "Multi-Language Disaster Brochures".
For Environmental Health Division Staff
The Environmental Health Division has its own Emergency Management and Strike Team to build staff capacity to address emergencies. The Program plans for and trains Environmental Health staff on how to respond to emergencies while protecting public health.
