Ebola Virus Disease and Marburg Virus Disease

Ebola Virus Disease (EVD) and Marburg Virus Disease (MVD) are two among numerous Viral Hemorrhagic Fevers. They are severe, often fatal diseases in humans and nonhuman primates (such as monkeys, gorillas, and chimpanzees). EVD and MVD can spread from person-to-person through direct contact with the bodily fluids (i.e. blood or secretions) of an infected person or exposure to objects (such as needles) that have been contaminated with infected bodily fluids. EVD or MVD are not respiratory diseases like the flu or COVID-19, and not transmitted through the air. Individuals who are not symptomatic are not contagious.
