NOTE: In alignment with both the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the California Department of Public Health (CDPH), LA County Department of Public Health will change to weekly reporting of COVID-19 data on Thursdays. The last day of daily reporting will be Tuesday, March 28. The first weekly report will be Thursday, April 6.

As of 2/27/23, the “new daily counts” of reported cases and deaths at the top of this table will not include Long Beach cases on Saturdays-Thursdays. All Long Beach cases/deaths for the week will be included in the reported case/death counts on Fridays, making the reported counts on Fridays artificially high. This is due to a reporting cadence change by the City of Long Beach Department of Health and Human Services.

(1) COVID-associated illness is determined by ICD-10 diagnosis codes assigned to a patient upon discharge. The COVID-associated illness definition includes patients positive for COVID-19 with a pneumonia, acute respiratory distress syndrome, or acute cardiopulmonary diagnosis. A national standard definition for COVID-associated illness has not been developed; caution should be applied when comparing these estimates to estimates from other jurisdictions which may use different methods.
