Survey clipart In order to better serve our community, the Veterinary Public Health Program (VPH) engages in surveys, questionnaires and other methods to get input from the public, veterinarians and other stakeholders.

Park survey, 2012-2020

Number of surveys completed: 574
Purpose: Assess local parks for pet friendliness, unleashed dogs, safety, evidence of smoking.
Method: VPH staff visit a random selection of 10% of LA County parks each year, filling out the survey on site. All parks are included in the selection process each year.

Pet owner survey, 2015-2016

Number of surveys completed: 343
Purpose: Assess the knowledge, attitudes and practices of pet owners about basics of pet health. Compare results to similar survey done in 2011-2012. The questionnaire was available in English and Spanish.
Method: VPH staff administered the survey at health fairs and low-cost vaccine clinics in LA County.

Built Environment survey, 2015-2016

Number of surveys completed: 507
Purpose: Assess barriers to walking in neighborhood and impact of pet ownership.
Method: VPH staff administered the survey at health fairs and low-cost vaccine clinics in LA County.

Veterinarian pet obesity survey, 2012

Number of surveys completed: 129
Purpose: Learn more about how local veterinarians address pet obesity in the clinical setting
Method: Online survey was emailed to local veterinarians.

Canine parvovirus survey, 2011-2012

Number of surveys completed: 582
Purpose: Assess the knowledge, attitude and practices of pet owner about canine parvovirus and vaccination protocols. The questionnaire was available in English and Spanish.
Method: VPH staff administered the survey at health fairs and low-cost vaccine clinics in LA County.

Dog owner survey, 2011-2012

Number of surveys completed: 569
Purpose: Assess the knowledge, attitudes and practices of pet owners about basics of pet health. The questionnaire was available in English and Spanish.
