Rabies Map 2022

Rabid bats are found every year in Los Angeles County.  In 2021, sixty-eight rabid bats were found in Los Angeles County - view a map here.  This is the highest recorded number of rabid bats found in LA County since testing of bats for rabies began in 1961.

So far in 2022, fifty rabid bats have been found in LA County.  One bat each was found inside of a house, in a parking lot, in a swimming pool, and inside of a car. Two bats each were found inside of businesses and on sidewalks.  Forty-two additional bats were found just outside of houses.

  7. Calabasas.  May.  Bat found dead in a parking lot.

  8. Stevenson Ranch.  May.  Bat found alive outside of a house.

  9. Santa Clarita.  May.  Bat found dead clinging to the outside wall of a house.

  11. La Crescenta.  June.  Bat found alive inside of a business.
