About Medical Marijuana Program

Effective January 1, 2018, Environmental Health is responsible for the Medical Marijuana Program, formerly managed by the Office of Health Assessment and Epidemiology. This benefits previous, current and potential clients of the Medical Marijuana Program, so they can continue to receive quality service in an effective, efficient, and timely manner.

The Medical Marijuana Program provides voluntary medical marijuana identification cards for qualified patients and their caregivers. The Medical Marijuana Program allows qualified patients who are Los Angeles County residents to apply and receive identification cards for themselves and their primary caregiver through Los Angeles County Department of Public Health.

Medical Marijuana Program Information

Prior to making an appointment, applicants must obtain medical documentation or Written Documentation of Patient’s Medical Records (CDPH-9044) from their attending physician, in addition, the attending physician must complete the Physician Attestation form . Applicants must have these two documents available when scheduling an appointment. At the time of the appointment, applicants must have the complete packet.

Please note, at the time of the appointment, applicants will be required to pay the medical marijuana identification card fee and will be photographed.

Appointments are STRONGLY recommended. Walk-ins are only accepted as time allows. No appointments or walk-ins will be processed after 4:00 p.m.
