Any parent or guardian of a student at a TK-12 campus within LA County boundaries, excluding schools in Pasadena or Long Beach, who is 18 years or older, is welcome to apply. New and returning PALs are welcome!

PALs will...

LEARN how to support student health and success at school

SHARE resources and information with their school community and develop programs in partnership with their school

GET PAID for the work they do at schools with a $500 gift card!

Program Requirements:

  • School support and approval from the school administrator
  • 20 hour time commitment

PALs is available for English and Spanish speakers.

  Teen Mental Health Toolkit

The Department of Public Health is pleased to announce the launch of two new, free, online Toolkits addressing teen mental health challenges: A Mental Health Toolkit for Teens and A Toolkit for Parents and Guardians of Teens.

Teen mental health impacts academic performance and overall health and wellness. These toolkits provide teens and parents/guardians access to information, activities, and resources to aid in recognizing teen mental health issues and connecting families to early intervention and treatment options. The toolkit is available in both English and Spanish.

  School COVID-19 Prevention Partnership (SCPP) Mini-Grants

The School COVID-19 Prevention Partnership (SCPP) highlights collaborative efforts between the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health, the Los Angeles County Office of Education (LACOE) and K-12 schools. This partnership, with operational support from Heluna Health, awarded mini-grants to School Districts, School Sites, and individual Classrooms. Mini-grants focused on COVID-19 pandemic recovering efforts, including improving school attendance, addressing mental health and wellbeing through social-emotional learning, and student physical fitness and nutrition.

Over 80 mini-grant projects were implemented across Los Angeles County, serving over 50 schools in 18 different school districts and charter organizations. To learn more about the projects implemented at schools, view this brief video: https://cdol.lacoe.edu/scpp/.
