The Hollywood-Wilshire Wellness Community offers a place for community members to gather, find resources, or participate in wellness activities. At the Wellness Community, there are a variety of activities such as physical activity classes, nutrition and health resources, and other support resources. All activities are FREE and open to the community.

In Person! Talk to a Health Promoter about eating the recommended amounts of fruits and vegetables and enjoying physical activity every day.

  • Name three personal health benefits of eating healthy food.

  • Identify the food groups to create a healthy plate.

  • Assess current eating patterns and compare them to MyPlate recommendations.

  • Plan a meal that meets MyPlate recommendations.

Reading & Rhythm Program

Virtual! The Reading & Rhythm Program is a FREE 1-hour reading program that addresses the needs of struggling readers using the universal appeal of rhythm. The program runs for 6 weeks, bi-weekly, for 60-minute per class led by a certified Reading & Rhythm facilitator. The reading & rhythm program increases reading scores by an average of 52%.

Virtual or in-person! Insurance companies require a letter from a mental health care professional prior to all gender affirming surgeries. The letter is a statement that the client is ready and able to give informed consent. You can request a free letter of support through the Hollywood-Wilshire Wellness Community.

Programa de Leer y Ritmo en Inglés

¡Virtual! El Programa de Lectura y Ritmo es un programa de lectura GRATUITO de 1 hora que aborda las necesidades de los lectores con dificultades utilizando el atractivo universal del ritmo. El programa tiene una duración de 6 semanas, cada dos semanas, de 60 minutos por clase dirigida por un facilitador certificado de Lectura y Ritmo. El programa de lectura y ritmo aumenta los puntajes de lectura en un promedio de 52%.

For urgent requests, contact the Substance Abuse Service Helpline at 1-844-804-7500. The Helpline operates 24 hours/day, 7 days/week as the entry point for substance use services in Los Angeles County.
