Zika Locations: Places Where Zika Virus is Spreading

As of January 1, 2018, all but one case of Zika virus disease identified among LA County residents were infected while traveling outside of California, mostly in Mexico and Central America (e.g., Guatemala, Nicaragua, and El Salvador). Please see Special Report: Zika Virus Surveillance in Los Angeles County, 2016 for more information. The remaining case was infected by sexual transmission.

The most current list of locations of exposure for LA County residents is included here. Please also see Special Report: Zika Community Engagements Meetings for more information about exposure and mosquito control techniques.

Below is the CDC feed noting the locations where Zika is actively spreading. LA County has been identified by the CDC as one of the highest risk jurisdictions in the country for a local Zika outbreak due to the amount of travel from Zika-affected areas. Please see Special Report: Rapid Community Investigation of Zika for more information. Because the locations and corresponding recommendations for Zika and other diseases are constantly changing, view the CDC travel site for additional information: CDC Travel Webpage
