Welcome

Thank you for visiting our Performance Improvement Program website!

Mission - To enhance public health practice and performance through the implementation of quality improvement efforts at all levels of public health to protect the health and well-being of Los Angeles County residents.

Vision - An effective and efficient public health department.

Brief Description - The Performance Improvement (PI) Program assists all programs within the Public Health Department to implement effective quality improvement processes. Using a consistent set of standards, practices, and procedures, the PI Program helps monitor the performance of the Department, as a whole, as well as the performance of individual programs.

Efforts to improve performance require us first to define WHAT we are doing and measure HOW WELL we are doing it. Measuring performance is, therefore, a tool to help our programs monitor and improve the quality of what we do and also to help ensure that we are doing the right things. These quality improvement activities increase the Department’s public accountability by providing broad visibility on our activities and the effectiveness of our efforts.

In addition to leading the Department’s quality improvement efforts, the PI Program is also responsible for leading the Department through the process to obtain national public health accreditation from the Public Health Accreditation Board in 2015.
