About Workforce Development
The Workforce Development Program is responsible for several duties within the Environmental Health Division. The program provides extensive classroom training to newly hired Environmental Health Specialist (EHS) Trainees on Federal, State, and local laws/codes enforced by Environmental Health, as well as inspection processes and workflows. Workforce Development Program also provides and coordinates Continuing Education training for Registered Environmental Health Specialist (REHS) team members to ensure staff remain updated on recent law and policy changes.

- Oversees the Internship Program for Environmental Health
- Coordinates and provides trainings for new hires and current Environmental Health team members
- Tracks and reports all EHS I Trainee training hours to the California Department of Public Health (CDPH)
- Prepares and submits REHS examination eligibility letters to CDPH
