Public Health Soil Testing Program Transitioned to the USC Clean Program on August 15, 2026.

Public Health has worked closely with USC since the program's inception, and both programs use a similar approach to soil lead testing. A coordinated transition plan is in place to ensure residents continue to have seamless access to free soil lead testing services.

Free Blood Lead Testing

Available for residents in wildfire-impacted communities.

Smoke, ash, and debris from wildfires may contain harmful contaminants, including lead. If you are concerned about exposure to lead from a wildfire, you can obtain blood lead testing in one of two ways.

Visit Your Medical Provider

  • Ask your doctor for a blood lead test.
  • Testing is covered by most insurance plans, including Medi-Cal.

Visit a Quest Lab

  • Call 1-800-LA-4-LEAD to request a free appointment through Quest Labs.
  • Testing is simple, convenient, and confidential.
