Since its inception in the Spring of 2016, the Task Force has
elevated opportunities to improve health equity in Los Angeles
County. Task Force members have weighed in on critical policy
decisions, including public health protections for people living
near neighborhood oil drilling sites, Measure A allocations for
equitably improving access to local parks, and priorities for
the new offices such as the
Office of Violence Prevention
and the
Office of Environmental Justice and Climate Health, housed within DPH.
Additionally, the Task Force serves as the advisory body to the
Center for Health Equity and provides leadership and strategic direction for community health planning in L.A. County, which includes the
Community Health
Equity Improvement Plan (CHEIP), and other strategic efforts
to promote strong population health, health equity, and racial
justice.
Task Force members are appointed for a three-year term either through selection by the Board of Supervisors or by
DPH. The
fifth cohort of the Task Force began their term on June 2025, representing a wide array of experience and expertise. The
Office of Planning, Integration and Engagement (PIE) - Planning
Unit is excited to staff the Task Force and support their efforts to advance health, equity and community well-being in Los Angeles County.
