  2007 Surveillance Report Expanded Version A Survey of the Health of Mothers and Babies In Los Angeles County
Summary: The  LAMB  Survey  was  first  piloted  in  2004  in  Antelope  Valley  to  address  a  high  rate of infant mortality observed in this region of Los  Angeles County. The LAMB Survey provided informat ion on the risk  factors  and  potential  causes  of infant mortality  for  women in  the Antelope  Valley. Since 2005, the project has been expanded  to cover all of Los Angeles County, collecting dat a every other year.

Summary: AIDS case surveillance has been a core public health activity in Los Angeles County (LAC) since 1982. Non-AIDS HIV case surveillance, which also mandates laboratory reporting of confirmatory HIV tests, began in California in July 2002. Between July 2002 and April 16, 2006, 15,275 cases of HIV were reported in LAC using a non-named, coded case reporting system
