Beware of False Information Visit PublicHealth.LACounty.gov for Verified Case Information

LOS ANGELES –Following reports that a letter purporting to be from the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health (Public Health) is being distributed in the City of Carson regarding 2019 novel coronavirus (2019- nCoV), Public Health warns the public that this information is false and was not issued by Public Health. Accurate information will always be distributed officially by Public Health through our official channels in the form of a press release and will also be available on the Public Health website http://www.publichealth.lacounty.gov and social media accounts @lapublichealth. There is no immediate threat to the general public, no special precautions are required, and people should not be excluded from activities based on their race, country of origin, or recent travel if they do not have symptoms of respiratory illness.

The Department of Public Health, along with state and federal partners, have appropriate systems in place to support appropriate screening and testing for those with an exposure to the novel coronavirus and healthcare providers are able to provide excellent care to manage respiratory illness. Public Health does not confirm suspect cases.
