WHAT: Smallpox Vaccinations for Public Health staff.

The Los Angeles County Department of Health Services will begin Phase 1 of the three-phased national smallpox vaccination plan on January 29. Health department officials will outline the department’s plan for Los Angeles County and vaccinate a few public health staff for photographers. This will be the only occasion the department will demonstrate smallpox vaccinations for the news media.
Designated smallpox public health response team members have completed medical screening and are ready to receive the vaccine.
Recruitment and training of hospital staff willing to be designated as part of their smallpox health care teams has been ongoing the last several weeks; vaccinations for these individuals will commence shortly.
