This Organization is designed for the professional advancement of the teaching of health education; helps forward and maintain a health education program that is essential in the preparation for health educators; opens channels of communication among health teachers, administrators, school boards and their respective communities; makes recommendations to districts in support of quality education programs and health education teachers.

The Southern California Public Health Association (SCPHA) is organized exclusively to improve the health of the people of Southern California by collaborating, educating and advocating with organizations and individuals who share this common vision.

APHA has been influencing policies and setting priorities in public health for over 125 years. Throughout its history it has been in the forefront of numerous efforts to prevent disease and promote health. The American Public Health Association (APHA) is the oldest and largest organization of public health professionals in the world, representing more than 50,000 members from over 50 occupations of public health.
