Debra R. Judelson, M.D., was honored as a Volunteer of the Year at the 20th Annual County of Los Angeles Volunteer Awards Luncheon held on April 22, 2002 at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion.
Dr. Judelson is a board-certified internist and cardiologist in private practice who volunteers as Chair of the Women's Health Policy Council, advisory body to the Office of Women's Health.
Dr. Judelson states, "Being a volunteer is about creating a community of hope. I am passionate about creating a community or village that my children and other children could hope to live in. This means not being content to just make things better, but devoting my time and energy to multiply the impact of my efforts with the efforts of others, to generate a synergy and create an undiscovered social value with those around me that I could not do on my own. It may take a village to raise a child, but it also takes the hope of a child to raise a village."
