Los Angeles County Dental Desert Map

Description

The dental desert are potential areas that would benefit from the establishment of dental services in existing medical-only clinics and from workforce expansion in existing dental clinics.

The dental desert must meet three criteria:

  • High population density: Greater than 10,000 people per square mile
  • Low median household income: 138% of the Federal Poverty Level (Cal eligible)
  • Less than 2.5 dentists per 10,000 patient population density per square mile
