Promotores Training Program
Background
The Promotores Training Program is a training series developed to train promotores, community health workers and health educators to become a trusted community resource for nutrition information, food assistance programs, and food resources.
Program Description
The program consists of 12 weekly sessions, conducted in English or Spanish, with each session ranging from 2 to 3 hours in length. Participants will be trained on various topics regarding nutrition, physical activity, and how to build skills as an educator in the community during the first 11 sessions. During the last session, participants will select a training topic of their choice and lead a group presentation to practice leading a class of their own. Participants are required to be dedicated and present throughout all 12 sessions to receive a certificate of completion. Upon completing the program, Promotores will be qualified to provide nutrition and physical activity education to the community. The Nutrition and Physical Activity Program will continue to provide technical assistance to promotores, if and when needed.Promotores Program Resources
