Program Description
The
Network for a Healthy California--Retail Program
facilitates partnerships
between retail stores and community based organizations to help increase the
consumption and purchase of fruits and vegetables among food stamp eligible
Californians. The Program provides retailers statewide with a unique variety
of tools, resources, and outreach activities to inspire healthy change among
consumers.
Connect with Your Community
The Retail Program brings retailers and community leaders together,
which allows for a greater connection to your neighborhood and your
customers. Local program leaders help build community-based partnerships
including assistance with store-based materials and activities. As a result,
involvement in the Retail Program raises your company’s profile as you show
your commitment to improving the health of your neighborhood.
Increase Your Profit Potential
Research indicates that the Program has a positive effect on produce consumption.
A study in 2000 showed that fruit and vegetable consumption increased significantly
when Latino adults were exposed to the Latino Campaign at a variety of locations
using a combination of community interventions, including retail-based activities!
