Under the direction of the California Department of Public Health Nutrition Education Obesity Prevention grant (NEOP) CNAP has the mission of coordinating and leveraging nutrition messages, education, and services between partners funded by the United States Department of Agriculture, and other applicable agencies.

The overall vision of CNAP aligns with NEOP goals, which include implementing policy, systems, and environmental change projects and nutrition education interventions for SNAP-Ed eligible populations to achieve the following outcomes:

(a)   Increasing fruit and vegetable consumption

(b)   Increasing physical activity levels

(c)   Increasing CalFresh accessibility

(d)   Decreasing obesity levels

(e)   Decreasing prevalence of diet-related chronic diseases

CNAP Objectives Include the Following:

1.      Cross education and promotion of SNAP-Ed programs

2.      Information Sharing

3.      Measuring impact through evaluation

4.      Improve access to SNAP-Ed programs for eligible populations

5.      Identify existing community assets to support and promote CNAP priority areas

6.      Coordinating community outreach/media efforts

7.      Policy development
