what can I do to prepare?

  • Visit a doctor or health clinic and ask about recommended testing and vaccines.
  • Test for sexually transmitted infections (STIs) like syphilis and gonorrhea.
  • If you don't know your HIV status, get tested.
  • Test for viral hepatitis. Consider getting the Hep A and Hep B vaccines.
  • Get your two-dose mpox vaccine.

  • If you are traveling to or from LA County for PRIDE, use the CDC's Vaccine Locator tool to find mpox vaccine wherever you are.
  • You need two doses to be fully protected.
  • Vaccines are available to anyone who thinks they are at risk for getting mpox. You do not have to share any information about personal risk. You do not need insurance.
  • You do not need to share your immigration status.

How can I stay safe during Pride?

  • Wash your hands often with soap and water or use hand sanitizer.
  • Stay home and talk to a healthcare provider if you:
    • feel sick
    • have a fever, chills, or swollen lymph nodes
    • have a new or unexplained rash, which may look like pimples, blisters, or sores
  • Avoid contact with rashes, bumps, and sores.
  • If you think you have mpox, call a healthcare provider and get tested.
    • If you do not have a provider, call 2-1-1 for assistance.
