What's New in CPSP
New Quality Assurance Indicator - Delivery Records

As of March, 2013, hospital delivery records will be required as part of the chart review during CPSP quality assurance visits in LA County. This will ensure that CPSP providers are informed of any complications during birth that may affect postpartum care and future pregnancies. The delivery record documentation should be the typewritten discharge summary or a legible copy of the delivery room record, and must include the infant’s weight, Apgar scores, the type of delivery, and any complications.

New Weight Gain Grids for Women Pregnant with Twins

The California prenatal weight gain charts now include three new grids for normal weight, overweight, or obese women pregnant with twins. The grids continue to be based on the 2009 Institute of Medicine’s (IOM) Weight Gain During Pregnancy: Reexamining the Guidelines. The new forms can be downloaded here. Please visit the IOM website for the weight guidelines and resources to educate women before, during and after pregnancy.

New Recommendations for Tdap Vaccination During Pregnancy

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention now calls for pregnant women to get a Tdap vaccination with every pregnancy so the baby can have some immunity prior to receiving their first dose of DTaP at 2 months of age. Read CDC’s full recommendation here.
