Healthy Relationships

To have a healthy relationship, it takes time, love, compassion, and compromise from both partners. There are three important features to a healthy relationship: respect, communication, and boundaries.

1.    Respect

  • You and your partner respect each other's wishes.
  • You each feel like your feelings and needs are important to the other. person
  • You trust your partner to support you during good and bad times.

2.    Communication

  • You can express your thoughts and feelings openly and honestly.
  • When making decisions, you and your partner are honest and listen to each other.
  • During disagreements, both you and your partner remain calm and patient. You do not blame the other person.
  • If something is bothering you, you feel like you can talk to your partner about it.

3.    Boundaries

  • You and your partner feel comfortable setting limits and saying NO in all aspects of your relationship including:

    • Spending money
    • Personal space
    • Sex life
    • Social media accounts and text messages
    • Friends and family
    • Alone time
