- 5-Year Plan (2005 to 2010)
From September 2003 through March 2004, CHI convened a planning
group of key stakeholders including representatives from county
departments, community-based organizations, school districts,
universities, and MCAH staff to conduct a needs assessment to
determine the key health issues the program should address in
the next five years. The planning group prioritized four health
issues: birth outcomes (low birthweight, high birthweight, prematurity),
childhood asthma, childhood and adolescent overweight/obesity,
and the health and well-being of adolescents.
Beginning in November 2004, CHI’s planning division convened
four workgroups—one for each prioritized issue—comprised of
stakeholders with expertise in each area. Over the course of
three months, these workgroups formulated strategy recommendations
to best address these issues. Based on this work, MCAH staff
selected strategies to implement over the next five years and
created a list of goals and objectives.
