The law is geared to protect children from lead hazards
in their homes before they are poisoned. SB 460 makes "lead
hazards" a housing violation under state law and authorizes building
departments, code enforcement and health departments to investigate and
enforce the law against landlords, just like other housing violations.
In addition, the law which requires universal reporting of all blood lead
analysis results, will allow DHS, for the first time to collect accurate data
on the extent of screening and poisoning throughout the state. www.leginfo.ca.gov
