Public Health Laboratory - Bacteriology Tests

0110 - AEROBIC BACTERIAL CULTURE, ROUTINE:
All cultures are performed by standard reference bacterial procedures. Routine specimens other than stool (throat, sputum, skin, eyes etc.) are included.

0111 - AEROBIC BACTERIAL CULTURE, SPECIAL:
Please indicate suspected organism(s) when submitting specimen: Corynebacterium diphtheriae, Listeria monocytogenes, Vibrio Cholerae, other.

0112 - AEROBIC BACTERIAL CULTURE, STOOL, COMPREHENSIVE:
Culture includes selective and enrichment procedures for isolation of Campylobacter, Salmonella, Shigella, Yersinia, Vibrio and other enteric pathogens.

0116 - AEROBIC BACTERIAL CULTURE, THROAT:
Test includes culture only for group A beta-hemolytic Streptococcus.

0117 - AEROBIC BACTERIAL CULTURE, URINE, QUANTITATIVE:
Test includes colony count for each organism, isolation and identification of potential pathogens, susceptibility testing when indicated by organism and colony count.

0128- AUTOCLAVE STERILITY CHECK BY ATTESTŪ METHOD:
Test includes incubation of autoclave check system specimen (ATTEST) and determination of sterilization effectiveness according to the criteria for the system used.

0131 - BORDETELLA PERTUSSIS/PARAPERTUSSIS CULTURE AND DFA:
DFA is performed on clinical specimens and reported as a preliminary result. Cultures on Regan Lowe agar are checked for up to 7 days before reporting no growth.

0132 - BORDETELLA PERTUSSIS/PARAPERTUSSIS CULTURE:
Culture on Regan Lowe agar is checked for up to 7 days before reporting no growth.

0157 - E. COLI 0157:H7 SEROTYPING, VEROTOXIGENIC STRAINS:
E. coli 0157:H7 has emerged as an enteric pathogen of public health importance, causing multiple outbreaks of hemorrhagic colitis, hemolytic uremic syndrome and diarrhea in nursing homes, day care centers, schools, and the community. One or two cytoxins may be elaborated. Toxin producing E. coli of various serotypes has been reported so the syndrome is not limited to E. coli 0157:H7.

0211: LEGIONELLA CULTURE:
Specimens are cultured on BCYE and selective agars.

0213: LEGIONELLA PNEUMOPHILA DIRECT ANTIGEN DETECTION, DFA:
Specimens are tested with monoclonal antisera against Legionella pneumophila.

0225: MYCOPLASMA CULTURE, GENITAL:
Culture includes Mycoplasma hominis and Ureaplasma urealyticum
