Motor Vehicle & Child Passenger Safety

Driving while talking on a cell phone or texting, talking to passengers/children, using navigational systems, putting on make-up, eating, all contribute to automobile accidents. When you are a driver-keep your attention on the road and your car!

Motor vehicle crashes is one of the leading causes of death in the United States (NHTSA).

It is also the fourth leading cause of death and second leading cause of hospitalizations in Los Angeles County. Contributing factors include:

  • Speeding
  • Alcohol use
  • Not wearing or "properly" wearing a seatbelt or restraint system
  • Driver distraction (cell phone, eating, talking to passengers, putting on make-up, etc.)
