		Youth Risk Behavior Surveillance System A national school-based survey conducted by the CDC and local school districts that monitors priority health risk behaviors including violence. Data are available nationwide, by state, and for participating local districts, including Los Angeles.
		National Youth Gang Survey Annual survey of law enforcement agencies measuring the presence, characteristics, and behaviors of gangs using a nationally representative sample. Website includes data report and fact sheets addressing national trends.
		Bureau of Justice Statistics Includes data and reports on gang crime collected from the National Crime Victimization Survey, which collects data from a national sample of households and measures violent crimes of rape, sexual assault, robbery, aggravated and simple assault as well as personal theft and the property crimes of household burglary, motor vehicle theft and property theft.
		Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention (OJJDP) Statistical Briefing Book webpage includes links to a variety of data analysis tools related to juvenile justice system.
		Los Angeles County Sheriff Department (LASD) Website includes crime data and crime prevention tips as well as gang and violence prevention brochures and information about the Sheriff’s Youth Foundation programming.

		Violence Prevention Coalition (VPC) of Greater Los Angeles The Violence Prevention Coalition (VPC) is a joint venture of community-based organizations, individuals, and public institutions and agencies in the Greater Los Angeles area to prevent violence using a public health approach. Website includes violence prevention fact sheets, resources, and events as well as a weekly e-newsletter.
		Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office Website includes information about gang suppression, intervention, and prevention activities, including Hard Core Gang Investigations, gang injunctions, and youth mentorship programs.
		City of Los Angeles Office of Gang Reduction and Youth Development (GRYD) The Mayor has consolidated the delivery of gang prevention and intervention services in the Office of Gang Reduction and Youth Development. 12 neighborhoods have been identified where rates of violent gang-related crime are at least 400 percent higher then elsewhere in Los Angeles and have been targeted for prevention and intervention programs. Website includes information about the 12 neighborhoods and prevention and intervention programming.
		City of Los Angeles Police Department-Gangs Provides information on local gangs, awareness, warning signs, prevention, gang statistics, and gang injunctions as well as information about their youth programs.
		Teen Line Online (310) 855-4673 or (800) 852-8336 TEEN LINE is a confidential telephone helpline for teenaged callers. It operates every evening from 6:00pm to 10:00pm and is toll-free from anywhere in California. The TEEN LINE volunteers who answer the calls, emails and chats are Southern California teenagers who have been specially trained. TEEN LINE also offers email help, online chat, message boards, resources and information.

		CDC National Center for Injury Prevention and Control - Violence Prevention CDC’s Injury Center Violence Prevention page includes issue briefs and reports related to school violence and youth violence, national and state level youth violence statistics, and information about risk and protective factors and best practices for prevention.
		VetoViolence-Injury Prevention & Control: Division of Violence Prevention VetoViolence web site and call center, 1-800-CDC-INFO (800-232-4636), TTY:888-232-6348, serve as a user-friendly, single point of access to information on youth violence. Developed by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and other Federal partners, the Resource Center provides current information developed by Federal agencies or with Federal support pertaining to youth violence. A gateway for professionals, parents, youth and other interested individuals, the Resource Center offers the latest training, tips and tools to launch or enhance prevention efforts. Website includes fact sheets, best practices documents, funding and conference announcements, statistics, research bulletins, surveillance reports, and profiles of promising programs.
		Find Youth Info FindYouthInfo.gov was created by the Interagency Working Group on Youth Programs (IWGYP), which is composed of representatives from 12 Federal agencies that support programs and services focusing on youth. Website includes interactive tools and resources for planning effective youth programs and a searchable program directory database.
		National Gang Center In October 2009, the National Youth Gang Center, which had been funded by the Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention since 1995, merged with the National Gang Center (NGC), which had been funded by the Bureau of Justice Assistance since 2003. This new partnership recognizes that street gang activities transcend ages of the members and that a balanced, comprehensive approach is needed to reduce gang involvement and levels of gang crime. This Web site features the latest research about gangs; descriptions of evidence-based, anti-gang programs; and links to tools, databases, and other resources to assist in developing and implementing effective community-based gang prevention, intervention, and suppression strategies. NGC also conducts the annual National Youth Gang Survey.
		Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention (OJJDP) OJJDP collaborates with professionals from diverse disciplines to improve juvenile justice policies and practices. OJJDP, a component of the Office of Justice Programs, U.S. Department of Justice, accomplishes its mission by supporting states, local communities, and tribal jurisdictions in their efforts to develop and implement effective programs for juveniles. The Office strives to strengthen the juvenile justice system's efforts to protect public safety, hold offenders accountable, and provide services that address the needs of youth and their families. The OJJDP website includes a variety of juvenile justice reports and best practices publications, as well as interactive tools to examine model programs, risk factors, and statistics.
		Juvenile Detention Alternatives Initiative (JDAI) Since 1992, the Juvenile Detention Alternatives Initiative, a project of the Annie E. Casey Foundation, has demonstrated that jurisdictions can safely reduce reliance on secure detention and generally strengthen their juvenile justice systems through a series of inter-related reform strategies. JDAI demonstrates that communities can improve their detention systems without sacrificing public safety. JDAI is now being replicated in over 125 jurisdictions across the country. The JDAI website includes best practices, research reports and brochures regarding juvenile justice reform.
		Models for Change – Systems Reform in Juvenile Justice Models for Change is a national initiative funded by the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation to accelerate reform of juvenile justice systems across the country. Focused on efforts in select states, the initiative aims to create replicable models for reform that effectively hold young people accountable for their actions, provide for their rehabilitation, protect them from harm, increase their life chances, and manage the risk they pose to themselves and to public safety. Website includes juvenile justice news, information about programs in participating states, and juvenile justice reform publications.
		National Council on Crime and Delinquency The National Council on Crime and Delinquency, founded in 1907, is a nonprofit organization that promotes effective, humane, fair, and economically sound solutions to family, community, and justice problems. NCCD conducts research, promotes reform initiatives, and seeks to work with individuals, public and private organizations, and the media to prevent and reduce crime and delinquency. Website includes NCCD news and publications related to crime, incarceration alternatives, juvenile justice, prison, race and justice, re-entry, and youth.
		Center for the Study and Prevention of Violence The Center for the Study and Prevention of Violence (CSPV), a research program of the Institute of Behavioral Science (IBS) at the University of Colorado at Boulder, was founded in 1992 to provide informed assistance to groups committed to understanding and preventing violence, particularly adolescent violence. Website includes an information clearinghouse, best practices, technical assistance for evaluation and development of violence prevention programs, and research publications.
		Institute for Community Peace The Institute for Community Peace (ICP) is a private, non-profit organization with 501(c) 3 status. ICP serves as a leading national organization working to prevent violence and promote peace. ICP is guided by three fundamental beliefs: that violence is preventable, peace is possible, and that both are best achieved through community-driven strategies that demonstrate the power of collective local actions. Website includes case studies, tip sheets, and reports related to community based violence prevention.
		National Gang Crime Research Center Formed in 1990, the NGCRC exists today as a non-profit independent agency that carries out research on gangs and gang members, disseminates information through publications and reports, and provides training and consulting and speaking services. NGCRC also produces the Journal of Gang Research.
		Fight Crime Invest in Kids Fight Crime: Invest in Kids is an anti-crime organization of over 5,000 police chiefs, sheriffs, prosecutors, and violence survivors that reviews research about what prevents kids from becoming criminals and put that information in the hands of policymakers and the general public. Website includes state by state research, news, and policy information.
		Prevention Institute - Preventing Violence and Reducing Injury Prevention Institute is a national non-profit that has played a leading role since its founding in promoting legislation, initiatives, and alliances in violence prevention. The Institute has mobilized health professionals across disciplines, equipping them with cross-cutting prevention strategies. Website includes research and tools for violence prevention.

		SafetyLit Injury Prevention Literature Update This weekly e-mail update lists the latest research summarized on the SafetyLit Web site. The Web site offers abstracts of English language reports from researchers in several disciplines relevant to preventing unintentional injuries, violence, and self-harm. SafetyLit is a free service of the Center for Injury Prevention Policy and Practice at San Diego State University.
		StreetGangs Website includes forum posts on a variety of gang related topics, including history and current events, particularly in Southern California.
		GangInfo This listserv from the Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention’s National Gang Center discusses the study, suppression, intervention, and prevention of youth gang crime.
		JUVJUST JUVJUST is an electronic newsletter containing the latest information from the Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention at the Department of Justice. Announcements are sent when new publications are received or for other important newsworthy events.
