What is Health Education?
Health Education is a health profession that uses evidence-based strategies to
support and improve the health and wellbeing of individuals and communities. Within
the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health, health educators have advanced
degrees in health education enabling them to plan, implement, manage, and evaluate a
wide range of health programs.
Here are some examples of the ways the LA County health education workforce
integrates health education principles into their work:
- Using theory to plan programs and interventions
- Strategic planning
- Grant writing
- Mass media campaigns
- Sharing success and barriers via abstract writing and presenting at conferences
- Process, impact, and outcome evaluation
