"Chronic Disease and Aging"
Chronic disease does not discriminate. However,
the aging population is more susceptible to chronic
conditions. Dana Colbert and Malka Sierra from the American Heart
Association and Ruth Hong from the American Cancer
Society introduced their organizations' programs, tools,
and resources and explained how the Los Angeles County
health education workforce can support their efforts.
Dr. Tony Kuo, Director of the Office of Senior Health,
presented aging population trends and described their
impact on the health care delivery system. Dior
Hildebrand represented both the Office of Senior Health
and Physical Activity and Cardiovascular Health program
and spoke about how the built environment can benefit or
hinder an aging population's health.
