The mission of the Threat Assessment Unit is to provide the Department of
Public Health (DPH) coordination with other agencies for the early detection,
assessment, and investigation of acts of terrorism that may pose a public health
threat. To accomplish this mission, the Threat Assessment Unit
- Establishes and maintains working relationships with federal, state, and local law enforcement and intelligence agencies
- Coordinates the Public Health Technical Advisory Group (TAG)
- Oversees the Medical Intelligence Unit of the Joint Regional Intelligence Center (JRIC)
- Provides situational threat awareness to DPH decision makers and maintains DPH capabilities for handling classified intelligence information
- Coordinates DPH investigative support to the Joint Terrorism Task Force
Collaborates with other agencies in the development of joint WMD response protocols
