Environmental Hygiene responds to complaints about odors inside a building to determine the nature of the odor and the likely source, and recommends appropriate mitigation measures. Odors caused by poor sanitation, other than chemicals, are handled by LA County Environmental Health,
Bureau of District Surveillance and
Enforcement. Odors emanating from hazardous materials are handled by the LA County Health Hazardous Materials Office. Area-wide odor emissions affecting outside air quality are handled by the Southern California Air Quality Management District.
