This program is responsible for the enforcement of public health laws pertaining to hotels, motels, boarding homes, boarding schools, organized camps, day camps and private school cafeterias.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND SERVICES:
- Conducts inspection of hotels, motels, and boarding
homes to determine if the facilities are clean, well
maintained, and free of vermin (rodents, cockroaches,
bed bugs, and other insects), the proper laundering of
linens, the appropriate washing and sanitation of
multi-use utensils provided in the guest rooms
- Conducts plan reviews of private school cafeterias, shelter kitchens,
as well as the installation of complimentary breakfast
facilities in hotels and motels
- Conducts inspections of homes for the elderly or disabled, such as
assisted living and residential care facilities for
maintenance and sanitation issues. (For complaints

- Conducts inspections of student housing and food service operations at
private schools, universities including dormitories,
co-ops, fraternity and sorority houses
- Performs site evaluations, issues Public Health License, and conducts
routine inspections of organized and day camps
- Conducts inspection of emergency housing for the homeless, including
shelters, cold weather shelters, single room occupancy
hotels, vendor hotel and motels, and domestic violence
shelters
- Inspects and monitors emergency shelters established in response to an
emergency or natural disaster such as wildfires and
earthquakes
- Provides health clearance
inspections for off campus education related locations
- Investigates and tests medically verified carbon monoxide poisonings in
residential housing where natural gas burning appliances
are not suspect
