Nonconventional Onsite Wastewater Treatment Systems (NOWTS)
|
The Los Angeles County Code
defines parameters for the effective percolation of
wastewater effluent through the soil. Properties that
conform to the established parameters may be approved
for installation of a Onsite Wastewater Treatment System
(OWTS). In some areas of the County, percolation
absorption rates exceed the parameters. In these areas,
the property owner may apply for approval of a
Non-Conventional Onsite Wastewater Treatment System (NOWTS).
The Land Use Program staff reviews work plans and
required covenants, coordinates with other County and/or
City Departments, and performs installation inspections
prior to final approvals.
