Vision &
Hearing
|
| .::
CHDP health exams include vision and hearing tests. Testing small children for
vision and hearing problems is not only important to a child's health but vital
for their learning/speech capabilities. Screening young children properly can be
a difficult task to accomplish.
|
| .::
The CHDP Program offers training classes to medical provider office staff
who conduct these screenings. A CHDP approved office must have a person on
staff who is certified to perform hearing screenings. Bi-annual trainings
coordinated by CHDP staff and conducted by the State
Children's Medical Services (CMS)
Hearing Conservation Specialist are held in Los Angeles County.
This training includes a full day lecture and a two hour, hands-on practicum
held at a Head Start site in L.A. County. In addition to the training there is a
video entitled "Audiometric Screening Training" that is available by sending a blank video tape to:
|
CHDP Headquarters
9320 Telstar Ave., Suite 226
El Monte, CA 91731
Attn: Health Education Audio Training
|
| .::
This video cannot be used in lieu of the training class to be certified,
but is helpful to learning the step by step procedure of "play audiometry".
|
.:: Vision screening training is also offered by CHDP in cooperation with the
Doheney Eye Institute. For further information call CHDP headquarters at 1-800-993-2437.
