Welcome to the Child Health and Disability
Prevention Program Adverse Childhood Experiences
(ACEs) Aware Toolkit page. The CHDP ACEs Toolkit
provides resources to professionals who work
with children and families exposed to ACEs. ACEs
are stressful or traumatic events, such as
abuse, neglect, and household dysfunction
occurring during childhood and adolescence.
Exposure to ACEs results in long-lasting effects
on an individual’s health, including nine of the
top leading causes of death and early mortality
in the Country. Providers can find resources in
the Toolkit on categories covering different
areas of need identified in the Pediatric ACEs
and Related Life Events Screener (PEARLS).
The
community provider Toolkit identifies resources
throughout Los Angeles County supporting early
intervention to help build resiliency for their
patients and help reduce the risk of severe
health conditions in adulthood. Let’s increase
awareness and prevention of ACEs by screening
and providing valuable resources, which improve
patients’ physical and mental health.
