The Los Angeles County Children's Planning Council - a countywide public/private collaborative - is dedicated to improving the lives of children and families by encouraging partnerships, promoting the use of data, developing resources and tools, and emphasizing the importance of outcomes and results. Our goal is to build stronger and more effective systems that serve families and children, build linkages between government and community, and improve planning efforts so that we increase the probability of successful actions that enhance child and family well-being throughout Los Angeles.

Board of Supervisors Approves The Three Goals
On February 3rd, the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors unanimously approved three bold goals and nine recommendations introduced by the Children’s Planning Council (CPC) to help improve the plight of children in Los Angeles County. The recommendations – based on data reflected in the 2003 Children Now California Report Card and the CPC Los Angeles County Children’s ScoreCard – represent important steps for the County of Los Angeles to address issues of poverty, health access, and child welfare. Specifically, the County hopes to achieve the following goals:
By July 2005, ensure that an additional 135,000 children and youth are enrolled in health coverage programs.
By July 2005, significantly increase the number of children living in safe, stable, nurturing families.
By July 2005, increase the number of families with children that claim and receive the Earned Income Tax Credit by 20,000.
To achieve these goals, the Board of Supervisors approved a set of recommendations, to be carried out by its agency leaders in partnership with community stakeholders. To review the recommendations and the many partners that helped craft them, please click on the links below.
