SPA/AIC Councils
The Children’s Planning Council has helped to create a system of councils known as the Service Planning Area or SPA Councils that represent each of the eight geographic regions of the county, along with a ninth council known as the American Indian Children’s (AIC) Council. The SPA/AIC Councils represent and are linked to community-based organizations, neighborhood groups, cities, schools, county and city government agencies, and many other entities. Across the nine councils, thousands of citizens are working together to improve the five outcomes for children. As a system of councils, we are embarking on an ambitious school readiness agenda to ensure that young children enter school ready to learn and that all children succeed in school. By focusing on the five outcomes, specific school readiness/school success indicators, and the National Education Goals Panel framework – kids ready for school, schools ready for kids, families and communities doing their part – we intend to mobilize an entire county on behalf of its children.
The SPA/AIC Councils 2006 Workplan Matrix reflects a strong commitment to the strategy of community organizing and engagement as the vehicle for strengthening community capacity. Please click the links to view or download the 2006 SPA/AIC Councils Workplan Matrix.
