The Data Partnership is an integral part of the Children’s Planning Council’s strategy to effect change in the lives of children and families. The Data Partnership draws staff, institutional partners, and volunteer leaders together to strengthen the capacity of county government and local communities to use data for planning. The Partnership’s primary goals are to enable policy decision and plans to be realistic and practical, to promote the rigorous tracking and monitoring of trends, and to assure program accountability and effectiveness.

The Data Partnership focuses its efforts on two levels. At the countywide level, it promotes the sharing and analysis of non-identifying program data from various departments to support policy decisions and program development efforts. At the community level, the Data Partnership supports access to and use of data by the SPA/AIC Councils and other community-based groups. To this end, the Data Partnership develops tools and resources, and provides training and technical assistance to strengthen the capacity of community-based organizations and the County to improve the lives of children and families.

Recommendations for the
Tracking and Measurement of the Core Set of School
Readiness Indicators Approved by the Board of Supervisors on July 15

On July 15, the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors unanimously approved Recommendations for Tracking and Measurement of the Core Set of School Readiness Indicators. The recommendations are the result of a six-month, collaborative process to develop a framework for tracking the “readiness” of schools, families, and communities to assure that every child in Los Angeles County has the best possible preparation for school and for life.

The Children’s Planning Council thanks its partners in this process, including First 5 LA, the County of Los Angeles, and members of the School Readiness Indicator Workgroup, including the co-chairs, Nancy Au and Jacquelyn McCroskey.

As we begin to build consensus around this set of indicators, we invite you to download a copy of the recommendations and begin to think about ways you can partner with us to ensure that all children in Los Angeles County receive the supports and assistance they need to enter school ready to learn.
