Welcome to the Center for Health Impact Evaluation website! We are part of
the Chief Science Office at the Los Angeles County Department of Public
Health (DPH). We work with DPH and external partners to conduct Health
Impact Assessments, studies that assess the health and other impacts of
policies, plans and projects in sectors where health is not necessarily the
main focus. We also collaborate with other DPH programs to conduct
economic evaluations and other analytic studies of public health programs
and policies.
To conduct our studies, we rely on a variety of quantitative and qualitative
tools such as statistical methods, simulation modeling, focus groups, and
interviews with key stakeholders. Our work helps the Department of Public
Health, other agencies, and the general public assess the degree to which our
programs are achieving their goals and understand the potential impacts of
future policy decisions.
