Outpatient Care Team
Mission:
The mission of the Los Angeles County Department of
Public Health's
Outpatient Care Team is to enhance infection prevention and control in outpatient settings in Los Angeles County through strengthened communications and collaboration.
Given the rapid growth and complexity of procedures performed in outpatient settings, enhancing patient safety and minimizing risk are critical. Since 2003, the Healthcare Outreach Unit has been working together with hospitals and other healthcare facilities to reduce healthcare-associated infections and improve emergency preparedness. In 2014, the Outpatient Care team was created to protect patient safety in outpatient settings by adapting successful infection prevention strategies for use in outpatient settings, reviewing infection control protocols, supporting set up and analysis using the National Healthcare Safety Network, investigating outbreaks, and serving as a resource for healthcare-associated infection reporting, prevention, and control.
